As a competent consultant and active partner in the development process, we work closely with our customers. The dialogue begins at a very early stage. Initial product ideas or customer sketches often form the starting point for the joint development process. In the next step we formulate a concrete requirement profile. The corresponding component is then created at modern CAD workstations, including the necessary FEM calculations and simulations. During the entire development phase we are in close dialogue with our customers. This enables us to find functional solutions with a view to cost-effective and efficient production.

From theory to practice – prototypes

How does the component behave in practice? Particularly in the case of complex projects, this cannot always be predicted exactly, despite the interaction of experienced engineers and modern CAD software. With the construction of a prototype, we provide clarity and are able to carry out possible optimisations in close consultation with our customers. For this reason, prototyping is a decisive step before the project data is transferred to our series production.

Experience, flexibility and modern machines – our competent employees combine the handicraft tradition of the tool mechanic with efficient CNC machines. This enables us to guarantee our customers consistent quality for small and large series. August Schmits takes advantage of the dynamics of technological development in forming technology. We continuously invest in production facilities that are state of the art. In this way we increase the degree of automation of our production lines. The integration of state-of-the-art technology ensures efficient series production and guarantees the highest degree of precision.

Efficient series production

We manufacture our products on modern automatic punching machines in progressive and transfer systems. Short change-over times enable the production of large series as well as medium and small quantities. Eccentric and hydraulic presses and special machines are available for further processing.

August Schmits uses computer-aided quality assurance (CAQ) as an element of quality management. We analyse, document and archive quality-relevant data on our manufacturing processes. We achieve optimum quality through statistical process control. Continuous evaluations confirm the high quality level of our products, as our customers expect.

The fact that our processes are monitored and the quality of our products is traceable is demonstrated by the certification according to IATF 16949:2016, a uniform and globally recognised standard for automotive suppliers, which August Schmits meets as a certified company.

We control our merchandise management and logistics via our high-performance IT and with the help of “EDI” we can determine the requirements of our customers and define the necessary logistics routes.
